What is Minecraft Dungeons II?

Minecraft Dungeons II is the sequel to the dungeon-crawling action-adventure game Minecraft Dungeons. Minecraft’s official FAQ also confirms that “Minecraft Dungeons II” and “Minecraft Dungeons 2” are the same game.

The official launch date is September 29, 2026. Before release, use this guide as a map of confirmed systems rather than a substitute for launch-day routes, drop tables, or tier lists.

How does exploration change in the sequel?

Xbox Wire’s hands-on coverage describes a fixed, interconnected world dotted with dungeons instead of the original game’s more discrete mission-selection structure. It also confirms a new ability to jump, adding another tool for movement and exploration.

That makes The Sift, Rifts, locations, and dungeon routes important research areas after release. Exact secrets and reward paths are not yet confirmed.

Does Minecraft Dungeons II have classes?

No fixed classes have been announced. The same Xbox hands-on report says a hero is built from curated gear:

  • One melee weapon and one ranged weapon
  • Four armor slots
  • Three artifact slots for active abilities
  • Three Talisman slots for passive bonuses
  • Enchantments

Read Gear and Builds for the source-conscious system overview. Do not trust a “best build” list until its items and game version are checkable.

Can you play with friends?

Official listings confirm solo play and up to four players in online or couch co-op. Steam also lists cross-platform multiplayer. See Co-op and Crossplay for what those announcements do and do not answer.

What should a new player check before release?

  1. Confirm your platform on Platforms.
  2. Compare Standard and Deluxe Editions.
  3. Check PC system requirements if you plan to play on Steam.
  4. Follow officially confirmed gameplay, not guessed gear names or unverified leak lists.
